The subject was founded in 2001 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to own and operate the Phu My 2.2 electricity power plant, a combined cycle power plant of 715 MW capacity gas fired in the southern Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in Vietnam. This is one of two large projects invested by foreign investors in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to supply electricity to southern provinces. The Phu My 2.2 electricity power plant was in commercial operation on 4 February 2005, taking only 30 months for construction. It is the first wholly foreign-owned BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer). Under the BOT contract, the plant has a 20-year operating period and will be handed over to the Vietnamese side on February 4, 2025.
