EVN HCMC is wholly – invested by VIETNAM ELECTRICITY. Its core business activity is distributing and trading electricity in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, the company is also responsible for constructing and operating transformer stations & power transmission systems. As of August 2023, EVN HCMC has become the first unit in Vietnam to have a modern medium voltage power grid with over 860 lines operating 100% fully automatically.Since 01 Dec 2021, EVN HCMC has inaugurated and officially put a multi-channel customer care switchboard into operation with various forms of communication such as voice, text, message, and video call. Besides expanding communication channels through social networking applications like Zalo, Facebook, Viber..., communication is also made via separate application (App), multi-channel switchboard, application of artificial intelligence (AI), and callback system with a virtual operator (Callbot). Mr. BUI TRUNG KIEN - Deputy General Director said that since 2017, transactions with customers have been gradually converted to online transactions. The subject has provided 100% types of online electricity services.2021 was a difficult year for EVN HCMC due to the prolonged impact of Covid-19 pandemic. Power consumption was reduced and the subject recorded a drop in net sales to VND 51,878 billion. In 2022, business risk was even more serious. Geopolitical tensions between Russia – Ukraine caused unfavorable macroeconomic factors. The price of input fuels such as coal, gas… showed a constant increase, and foreign exchange rates fluctuated day by day. In this context, the production cost of power plants sharply increased and created a burden of buying electricity in Vietnam market. Furthermore, the price of supplies and equipment for electricity projects also rose and repair & maintenance costs moved up. EVN HCMC suffered from operating loss due to the burden of COGS in latest financial year.In November 2023, at 2023 ENLIT ASIA International Conference taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia, EVN HCMC was honored to surpass more than 400 businesses to be awarded the first prize "Smart Grid Project Of The Year" for the project "Automatic Distribution Grid". Recently, the company has officially completed two projects including "Replacing the second transformer of the 110kV South Saigon 1 substation" and "Renovating and upgrading the SCADA-RTU system of the 110kV South Saigon 2 and Linh Trung 2 substations", thereby helping to increase capacity, modernize the control system, enhance the ability to ensure electricity during the hot season in 2024, meet the load demand in the region, and at the same time increase flexibility for city power systems.
