The subject's precursor was the Michelin rubber plantation which was established in 1917 by the French. Up to 21 May 1981, the Government officially transferred the subject to a State company under name of “CONG TY CAO SU DAU TIENG”. In 2009, its type of business was changed to “State single member limited liability company” and managed directly by “VIET NAM RUBBER GROUP - JOINT STOCK COMPANY” - a State Corporation with many member companies. Currently, the subject focuses on planting, exploiting and processing rubber trees. It exports rubber in two forms: block rubber and latex concentrate rubber (liquid). According to the published information, its products are exported to about 40 countries in 5 continents. Besides Vietnam, the company's trademark has been registered for protection in some countries such as Korea, Australia, Japan and the European Community. Besides, the subject's business also expanded to investing and trading real estate (mainly developing the industrial park), solar power and financial investment. According to the subject's announcement, although the sales structure of the field of investing and trading real estate is zero now, this section will be accounted for 25%-30% and 40%-50% of this company's total sales and profit in 2025. According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, in 2022, Vietnam exported 2.14 million tons of rubber, worth USD 3.3 billion, up by 9.7% in volume and more than 1% in value compared to 2021. This was the year that recorded the highest rubber export in the last 5 years in terms of both volume and value. However, in the first 4 months of 2023, Vietnam exported 469,632 tons of rubber, reaching USD 653.22 million, down by 3.2% in volume and 23.7% in value over the same period in 2022. In general, in the first 4 months of 2023, the majority of rubber exports to markets decreased because the purchasing power of the world market dropped, especially large markets such as India, the USA, the EU, etc. However, one market was still growing, that was the Russian market.
