Cong Ty Co Phan Vat Tu Xang Dau, located in Ho Chi Minh municipality, was established on December 13, 1975. Its initial mission was to manage fuel stations and supply fuel to over 5,000 transportation vehicles and public transportation in Ho Chi Minh City. Over the years, the company has undergone name changes to align with its business objectives. It started as a car wash and fuel supply enterprise, then became a supplies company, and later a fuel supply enterprise. During this period, the company focused on supplying and distributing fuel according to plans. In 1988, the company was granted permission to engage in retail fuel sales, which led to significant breakthroughs in its business development. The company adapted to market mechanisms and implemented retail fuel sales at its fuel supply stations, serving the people of Ho Chi Minh City. In 1991, as part of comprehensive reforms and the industrialization and modernization of the country, the company was merged with the Transportation Services Company and renamed Cong Ty Vat Tu Thiet Bi Giao Thong Van Tai (COMECO). This merger allowed the company to directly import and export materials, spare parts, fuel, and transportation equipment, and it was classified as a Type I enterprise. In 2000, COMECO was selected by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to undergo equitization. It was transformed into Cong Ty Co Phan Vat Tu - Xang Dau (COMECO) on August 9, 2000, with the approval of the Prime Minister. The company's business registration certificate was issued on December 13, 2000. Throughout its 40-year history, COMECO has established itself as a strong brand in the petroleum business. Its average annual growth rate after equitization exceeded 24%. The company's charter capital has increased from 16.2 billion VND in 2000 to 141.206 billion VND, and its shares have been listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange since August 2006. COMECO has implemented a strategy of expansion and modernization, investing in upgrading existing stores and opening new ones. It currently has 38 fuel branches in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces, equipped with advanced technology. The company also has a fleet of tankers to support its business operations. Its distribution network and customer base have expanded not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also in southern provinces. COMECO aims to be the number one supplier of quality services in the petroleum business in Vietnam.
