Cong Ty Co Phan Nhiet Dien Hai Phong is a company located in Hai Phong municipality. It was appointed by the Prime Minister of Vietnam to be the investor of the Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant project, according to Decision No. 1186/QD-TTg dated December 13, 2002. The company is responsible for managing the construction, preparing production forces, and selling electricity, with the goal of meeting the urgent electricity needs of the power system and providing stable supply for the high-growth economic triangle area of Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh. The Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant 1&2 is located in Tam Hung commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city. It has a capacity of 4x300MW, with a total investment of over 1.2 billion USD (equivalent to about 24,000 billion VND). The plant produces 7.2 billion KWh of electricity per year, contributing significant revenue of about 9,000 billion VND to the national grid and over 400 billion VND in tax revenue to the local and state budgets annually. The power generation process of the plant includes two main components: boilers and turbines, and power generators with a transmission system consisting of two 220kV and 110kV substations.
