Banco Industrial de Venezuela was created by law of the National Congress on July 23, 1937, as a result of a project prepared by the National Association of Merchants and Industrialists of the time. It formally began its activities on February 4, 1938. It offered financial products and services and is the governing body of the financial sector, in the development and financing of the industrial sector, leading the granting of loans: Personal Banking, Corporate Banking. The Government in search of a new structure, composition and size of Public Banking, in order to consolidate and streamline its performance, reported the cessation of operations and financial intermediation activities of Banco Industrial de Venezuela (BIV) in Official Gazette No. 40,846, dated February 11, 2016. As a result, the transfer of the active and passive portfolio of the aforementioned banking institution to Banco del Tesoro, CA was executed.
