Acoger S.A. is a business initiative that was established in 2006 as a long-term solution to the well-known Catholic cemeteries in Santiago, specifically Recoleta, Maipú, and Puente Alto. The aim was to provide a dignified and affordable solution for the economically disadvantaged who often had no choice but to bury their loved ones in mass graves. The company was formed through the collaboration of the Church, individuals, and corporate groups. In January 2006, Acoger S.A. took over the administration of the Recoleta Catholic cemetery. A year later, the La Recoleta crematorium and the first urban memorial in the parish of Jesús Señor de la Vida were inaugurated. This marked the beginning of a network of urban memorials, currently consisting of over 50 locations within the urban area and Catholic cemeteries. Acoger S.A. currently manages the three aforementioned Catholic cemeteries and has developed an innovative service at the La Recoleta crematorium. They have invested in constructing the only certified crematorium capable of operating during pre-emergency events and being environmentally friendly, making it the most modern crematorium in the country. Additionally, Acoger S.A. has developed a permanent solution in the form of memorials with small niches that can hold the ashes of three people. These niches are perpetually owned by those who acquire them and are located in various places, initially in Santiago but with plans to expand throughout the country.
