On December 3, 1992 a public concession contract was signed which established under the name Empresa Distribuidora La Plata Sociedad Anonima (EDELAP) the distribution of electricity in the area of the parts of La Plata, Berisso, Ensenada, Brandsen, Magdalena and Punta Indio. The area administrated before that date by SEGBA was divided in three national concessions: Edelap S.A., Edenor S.A.,Edesur S.A. EDELAP is a company, part of the DESA group, that manages a complex and high-tech system. It has 1,200 MVA of installed capacity, two high voltage connections to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI), 13 high to medium voltage substations, 4,000 transformation centers and more. more than 10,000 kilometers of high, medium and low voltage networks. The system works 24 hours a day by a team of many specialized workers. The company focuses on continuous service improvement, innovation and the introduction of new technologies.
