The Bank was established under The Bank of Khyber Act, 1991 (N.W.F.P. Act No. XIV of 1991), passed by the Provincial Legislative Assembly of the North-Western Frontier Province of Pakistan. Bank of Khyber was awarded status of a scheduled bank in September 1994 and listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE).
