Winery Tikves - Kavadarci is the leading wine producer in Macedonia. It became officially established as TIKVES Winery - Kavadarci in 1999 after transformation of the agricultural combine "Tikves" into six individual legal entities. The company produces red and white wines (85%), brandy (10%) as well as juices, vineyard and other (5%).
The company cultivates around 7.500 ha of vineyards, from which 1.800 ha belong to the winery and the other 5.700 ha to private farmers. The production capacity (including wine grapes (70%) and grapes for fresh consumption (30%) is 60.000 tons of the following types: Cardinal, Regima, Muscat d'Italia, Reviere and White Winter. 55% of the grapes are white and 45% are red.
The production of wine is around 56.000 t from which 70% is sold in bulk and 30% bottled. The bulk products goes mostly for Germany where it is bottled by the German importer who receives the labels directly from Tikves. The company has three bottling lines, processing 10,000 bottles of wine and 5,000 bottles of spirits per hour. During the peak vintage season daily capacity at Tikves Winery reaches 1,000 tons of grapes for acceptance and preparation.
Tikves average total turnover is 40 - 50 mill. EUR, 75% of the turnover are from selling wine and fresh grapes. The other 25% come from other production activities of the company.
