Universal Investment Bank (UNIBank) is a successor of Skopje-based Balkanska Banka, which was established in 1993. The bank is a universal commercial bank that performs all the banking activities and offers a wide range of financial services to individuals and corporate clients.
The Skopje-based Balkanska Banka was initially set up by two Bulgarian banks and some Macedonian entities. The lender was expected to fund joint infrastructure projects in the region such as a direct railway link between Bulgaria and Macedonia, pipelines and highways.
Starting from September 2003 the bank focused on retail and consumer lending. In February 2004 Balkanska Banka was renamed to Universal Investment Bank, also known as UNIBank.
UNIBank operates 35 branch offices nationwide.
