Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) was set up in 1993. Officially, the state-owned broadcaster launched operations in 1944 when the Macedonian Radio was found. The Macedonian Television, as a part of MRT started its activity in 1964. Until 1993, MRT operated within the network of the former JRT (Yugoslav Radio and Television). The activity of the Macedonian Television is composed of two programme services – Channel One and Channel Two; along with Satellite Channel and Parliamentary Channel. The Macedonian Radio broadcasts three services – Channel One, Channel Two and Channel Three; as well as a Satellite Channel. MRT broadcasts programmes in nine different languages, which makes it the most untypical broadcasting service in Europe.
