Company Description
Montenegro's sole aluminum smelter Kombinat Aluminijuma Podgorica (KAP), which was launched in 1972, is located about 10 kilometers to the south of the capital Podgorica.
The smelter accounts for half of Montenegro's industrial output and 51% of its exports.
In August 2004, Montenegro launched a privatization procedure of the smelter. CEAC (Central European Aluminum Company) bought a majority stake in the smelter in 2005 and the following year launched a five-year program to modernize it.
