On June 22nd 1999, Barclays Bank PLC became the majority shareholder through increasing its stake to 60%. In March 2004, Barclays Bank acquired the remaining 40% stake in Cairo Barclays from Banque du Caire, giving Barclays 100% ownership of the business.
